Glenville High School 2004 Alumnus of the Year

Bill Rhoades

A well deserved recognition was bestowed on Bill Rhoades '53 at the most recent GHSAA Reunion Dinner.  Bill was recognized as the 2004 Alumnus of the Year.  The award was presented to him by Jesse Huff.  Bill has been the chairperson of the GHSAA Scholarship committee and spearheaded the recent major fund raising effort that resulted in a very substantial increase in the scholarship fund.  Bill, on behalf of the Class of 1953, had challenged the GHSAA membership to contribute to the scholarship fund with the Class of 1953 matching everyone's contribution up to $25,000.  The challenge resulted in donations exceeding $50,000 to the scholarship fund.  Bill's efforts enabled the GHSAA to award 14 scholarships, valued at $24,500, for the school year 2003-2004!
